The F-M Youth Basketball League began more than 30 years ago as a recreational and instructional developmental league for children living in the Fayetteville-Manlius school district. The League is run by volunteer parents, with assistance from some of the F-M High School basketball coaching staff. The League is a registered 501(c) non-profit organization, whose primary source of funding is player registration fees. In the 2017-18 season, we were pleased to obtain partial sponsorship of our programs through donations from DICK's Sporting Goods.
The official League objectives are to: "(1) provide an opportunity to play basketball; (2) provide an enjoyable recreational experience; (3) teach the ideals of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and respect for authority; and (4) teach the fundamental skills of basketball. The attainment of exceptional athletic skill or the winning of games is secondary to these objectives.” (from the by-laws, amended and approved May 6, 2004).
